The Matrix has become a force in the P5 line with many of the top riders sporting it under their feet. It sports a thinner core and a single to double concave bottom with the V-Spline tail. The result is a very responsive, trick friendly platform to work the wave. Many riders will find it rides very well revert with it’s well rounded outline that sports the same shape on it’s nose and tail. The Matrix has a Carbon Stringer for added strength and is glassed super light using our Gatorskin™glass. It is equipped with a single 1” fin that gives the board a true skim style feel. Don’t waste time, Enter the Matrix. The Matrix Payne Pro features a unique Propel Graphic bottom that Parker Payne dreamed up. No specific design or construction features differentiate the Payne Pro from the stock Matrix.

Construction Types

  • Stealth performance

    Phase 5's newest surf-style construction, Stealth, is the first in their lineup to feature basalt. It uses a basalt/Innegra top weave reinforced with a carbon stringer and tail patches, along with a full Innegra bottom sheet and carbon stringer. This is the strongest layup Phase 5 offers, delivering top-tier durability without sacrificing performance. It provides powerful pop and a lively feel, and is reserved for their highest-end Performance shapes.

  • GatorSkin Supertough

    GatorSkin™ Super Tough Glass is a lightweight glass weave that integrates Carbon and Aramid fibers. It delivers a fast, stiff ride designed for riders who demand top-level performance.

  • FlexTec v2

    FlexTec V2 has been the core construction method behind Phase 5’s surf-style boards for years. Its layup includes a full Innegra bottom sheet with a carbon stringer, paired with a full Innegra top sheet reinforced by both a carbon stringer and carbon vector netting. This advanced blend of glass and epoxy resin results in an ultra-strong surf-style board built for durability and long-lasting performance.

  • CI-V Carbon Glass

    A specialized weave combining Carbon and Innegra fibers. The Innegra is integrated into the Carbon in vertical strands, creating a distinct visual pattern. This material is lightweight and produces a fast, stiff board designed for riders seeking peak performance.

  • Composilite Construction

    Extremely durable molded construction, crafted specifically for Phase 5’s entry-level wakesurfers. This exclusive build technology is proudly developed and manufactured in the USA by Phase 5.

  • Flightlite V2 Pro select

    Flightlite V2 Pro Select is our high-performance surf-style construction, now 20% lighter for unmatched responsiveness. Engineered to maximize the board’s shape and deliver exceptional feel underfoot, this build is all about performance. It features a full Innegra bottom sheet with a carbon stringer and a full Innegra top sheet reinforced with carbon tape in the tail for added strength and precision.
