When our CEO Mitch Mann calls a wave “the longest, most powerful surf wave I have ever been on,” we pay attention, because Mitch does not throw that kind of praise around. In his walkthrough of the new 2027 Centurion RS245, he takes it out and shows exactly how we dial that wave in, from the dash to the plate settings, so you can see it and eventually recreate it yourself.

The RS245 Surf Wave at a Glance

The Dash: Total Control at Your Fingertips

Every setting in this video runs through the RS245’s Marivue Stacked Dash System. Mitch keeps ballast controls on the left screen and surf settings on the right, but that layout is entirely customizable. Screens can be rearranged, swapped for lighting and stereo controls, or reconfigured however a driver prefers. The dash also stores rider profile presets, so a crew running the same handful of waves every weekend can select a saved preset instead of rebuilding it from scratch.

Ballast Setup: Simpler Than You’d Think

For the wave in this video, we run the RS245’s ballast system at 100% in every tank (RAMFILL-boosted fill), with the crew seated evenly throughout the boat. No odd fill combinations, no trial and error. The one adjustment worth knowing: if the wave picks up a little white wash near the top, dropping the off side’s ram-fill tank to about 80%, roughly a 10-second change, cleans up the lip.

Dialing In the Advanced Surf Wave

With four people in the boat, 100% ballast, the Quick Surf plate set to 75%, and the center plate at zero, the RS245 throws a steep wave that barrels over on itself: the exact setup Mitch runs for his own advanced-level surfing.

Mellowing It Out for Skim Boarding

To flatten that same wave for a smaller-finned skim board, Mitch bumps the center plate from 0% to 30%. That pushes the bow down slightly and softens the face, without adjusting ballast or the primary Quick Surf plate. He can make this change from the dash screen or with the toggle switch mounted next to the steering wheel, meaning he can reshape the wave in real time while watching a rider without ever looking away from the water.

The Kids Wave: Same Ballast, Totally Different Wave

For his 11-year-old daughter, Mitch doesn’t drain a single tank. He simply pushes the center plate from 30% up to 75%, which mellows the wave out considerably while keeping the exact same ballast configuration used for the advanced wave. It’s a good illustration of the RS245’s range: three distinct rider experiences (advanced surf, skim, and kids) from one ballast fill, adjusted entirely through the plates. Once a family finds a kids’ setting they like, saving it as a rider profile means it’s a one-tap “activate” away on every future outing.

Switching Sides in Seconds

Everything above is shown on the starboard side for a right-foot-forward rider. For a left-foot-forward rider, a single Surf Left button rolls the plates and transitions the wave to the port side: no ballast changes, no menu diving. Mitch demonstrates the switch while driving to show just how fast it is. There’s typically a bit of wash on top right after the switch; emptying a small amount of ballast on the new off side cleans that up, though the wave is fully surfable without that extra step.

Final Thoughts

Mitch’s assessment, on camera: the surf performance on the 2027 RS series is the best he’s seen on any surf boat, and the wave itself is the longest, most powerful, and most customizable he’s ridden or driven behind.
