BoardCo DFW: The Return of a Legacy Dealership Team

When the #1 Mastercraft Dealer in the World Becomes a Centurion Dealer

Written: January 20, 2026 | Reading Time: 7 minutes

If you're a boat enthusiast in the Dallas-Fort Worth area, you've noticed the change. Texas MasterCraft—once the number one Mastercraft dealership in the world and the undisputed leader in DFW for over two decades—closed its doors. Customers were left without the service and support they'd relied on for years.

What this means for boating in Texas: The team that built Texas MasterCraft into a legendary operation is back. And has partnered with BoardCo to bring Centurion and Supreme boats to DFW. This isn't a typical new dealership launch. This is a reunion of the people, the facility, the lake, and the customer-first philosophy that made Texas MasterCraft special.

The Foundation: What Texas MasterCraft Built

Before we talk about the future, you need to understand what this building represents. Hunter Harvell, now General Manager of BoardCo DFW, puts it simply:

"It is surreal. I honestly didn't know if we'd ever be back in this building or not. This is where I grew up. This is home for me. And now I get to have my kids here and create something special out of this place."

What Made Texas MasterCraft Different:

  • Customer relationships spanning decades
  • Service-first philosophy over profit maximization
  • Private lake for demos and events
  • Number one Mastercraft dealer in the world
  • Team continuity and institutional knowledge

Jimmy Harvell, founder of Texas MasterCraft, explains the approach that built the business:

"We felt like if we took care of the customer, the customer was going to take care of the company. And that's exactly how that company thrived—off the customers."

Hunter adds from the sales perspective:

"That was the best tool I had as a salesman—talking to somebody about how I was going to take care of them, and having all of the confidence in the world that no matter what, the guys in the back were going to make sure that my customers are always happy."

How BoardCo and Jimmy Harvell Found Each Other

This reunion didn't happen by accident. It happened because two family-run businesses with identical philosophies discovered each other.

Troy Mann, founder of BoardCo, tells the origin story:

"I was at the NCIA last February when a common friend says, 'Hey, I was just talking to my buddy Jimmy Harvell about Centurion and you guys.' Long story short, we start talking and going through multiple calls. He says, 'I've done some homework. I'm interested in Centurion because they seem to have the same values that we have.'"

What followed was extensive mutual vetting. Jimmy researched BoardCo. BoardCo researched Jimmy. Industry connections were consulted.

Jimmy explains:

"I did a lot of research on these guys because I didn't want to make the same mistake twice. We exist because of our customers. And everybody speaks highly of you guys."

Why the Partnership Works:

BoardCo isn't experimenting with expansion—they have a proven model:

  • Established 1989 in Salt Lake City
  • Centurion's largest volume dealer for the last decade
  • Family-run business with same customer-first philosophy
  • Multi-generational involvement (Mitch grew up in the dealership, just like Hunter)

Troy reflects on the parallel:

"We're a family run business. We were exactly what you guys were. We're not the corporate world. This seemed like a natural fit. We kind of hit it off right from the get go because they think like we do."

The Building: Back Where It All Happened

Finding the right facility in DFW proved challenging. Months of searching turned up nothing. Then something remarkable happened.

Mitch Mann tells the story:

"Hunter had sent me the listing for this property weeks before, but it was sold. One morning, a thought popped in my head: go back and look at that listing. I pull it up and reach out to the agent. Three minutes later, I got a phone call: 'Yeah, it's available.' I about fell out of my chair."

Through a unique series of events, BoardCo acquired the original Texas MasterCraft facility—including the private demonstration lake.

Why This Location Matters:

  • One of the largest dealership footprints in the country
  • Private demonstration lake minutes away
  • Service bays, showroom, and infrastructure already built
  • Familiar to thousands of DFW boaters

Jimmy's perspective on being back:

"It's really weird. It's super cool. I wanted to do a lot of research because I didn't want to make the same mistake twice."

Why Centurion and Supreme

Jimmy Harvell didn't come back for just any brand. The choice was deliberate.

Jimmy's History with Centurion:

"I worked for Herb O'Brien for many years. The first boat I ever went out on the road with was a Centurion—way back in the 80s. I found it very interesting they were the first company to actually have a surf boat specific. They stayed focused on that. The wave has gotten to be such a huge piece of what we do. Centurion has been focusing on that, probably as much or more than anyone."

Hunter's First-Hand Experience:

After testing Centurion boats extensively, Hunter—raised as a "Mastercraft kid"—was impressed:

"You start to notice there's a lot more similarities in these boats than dissimilarities. When you get behind a Centurion and ride the wave, you can tell they really care. The push was great. The ride of the boats was mind blowing to me—really smooth. That's a big thing out here with our lakes."

The Private Company Advantage:

Troy Mann explains why manufacturer relationships matter:

"The relationship with the manufacturer is so much smoother when you both have the same values and the same goal. The president of Centurion came here to check it out. It speaks volumes to who you're dealing with."

Jimmy adds:

"You get different incentives with a private company. Correct Craft plays the long game. That's a lot different than a publicly traded company with investors to answer to and quarterly earnings. This business is all about relationships. Always has been."

Messages to Our Customers

For Former Texas MasterCraft Customers

You know this building. You know this lake. You know many of these faces. The service philosophy and relationships you valued are back, with new product backing and resources.

Hunter's message:

"I keep picturing all the times I've had whole families come screaming in the door, climbing all over their new boat, excited for their new toy. Being able to see that again is going to be something really cool to me."

For Current Centurion Owners in DFW

If you've felt in limbo without local representation, that changes now. You have a home base again with full warranty support, parts, service, and expert technicians who know your boat.

For New Boat Shoppers

You're looking at multiple brands and want a dealer you can trust for the next 10-20 years. We offer decades of experience, proven track record, and service-first philosophy—with no pressure, just honest guidance.

What Boating Is Really About

Troy Mann reflects on why this industry matters:

"Some of the best memories I have are growing up on the water. For the majority of our customers, buying a boat was one of the best investments they ever made, because of the time they get to spend with people on the water. The only time somebody is pulling out their cell phone is to take pictures of the person surfing—not because they're scrolling TikTok."

A Final Thought

Jimmy Harvell sums up what this is really about:

"We exist because of our customers. Over 20 plus years, you get to where you're kind of like family with a lot of these customers. I've got customers that bought 20 and 30 boats from me. Watched their kids grow up. So it's kind of neat to bring it all back together."

This isn't just a dealership opening. It's a homecoming.
