Prop Diameter Explained

The propeller diameter is the total span of the blades of the propeller, or the distance from the center of the hub to the tip of any of the blades multiplied by 2.  The diameter affects the total surface area of the propeller and will typically increase low-end acceleration as the diameter increases.  Increasing diameter, decreasing pitch or decreasing cup size can improve low-end acceleration.  Typically, larger/heavier boats utilize a larger diameter propeller than smaller and/or lighter boats.
