The Colt is another one of Phase 5's thruster-finned skim/surf hybrid boards. It was introduced last year, and had a very successful debut. The Colt is the same size as the Model X, but with a completely different approach to its design, offering a more buoyant, floaty ride. There is less width under the front foot, resulting in a more pulled in, narrow nose design and has a quash shaped tail, giving the rider lots of drive and control for carving and executing turns. It’s 1″ thick buoyant core offers tons of float so it is easy to stay in the wave.

The Colt is completely hand made, just like the rest of the Phase 5 line. The one thing that really sets the Colt apart from other boards is it’s wood-grain finished deck. For 2013, the Colt comes equipped with a brand new performance traction pad, offering more control and beneficial features than ever! 

The Colt still comes standard with three 2" thruster fins. The 2" thruster fins give the board  more of a floaty surf style feel.   Remove the center fin and ride it twin for a looser feeling.  You can also try riding it with a single fin or even change to the optional 1" skim fins.    This will make the board really loose and will give it a definite skim feel. There are many different fin combinations that you can use, we recommend trying several, you will be surprised at how changing the fin setup will effect the feel of the board.
